Postal worker suffers workplace injuries

A man has been seriously injured on the job, requiring an investigation to be launched by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to sources local to the incident. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Aug. 8, according to the officials overseeing the investigation. Iowa residents will be pleased to hear the man is expected to recover, despite the severity of his workplace injuries

According to the accident report, the 52-year-old man, a postal worker, was struck by a truck that was attempting to back into a loading dock. The vehicle struck the man and then proceeded to run over him with the back wheels. Police and emergency workers found him lying alongside the vehicle but, thankfully, not pinned beneath it.

He was rushed to a local hospital with injuries described as "critical," where he was said to be undergoing treatment as of the latest report. The driver of the truck, a 46-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with police. He has not currently been charged with an infraction, but the investigation launched by OSHA in cooperation with local police services is still ongoing at this time.

Any job can be hazardous, and workplace injuries are notoriously commonplace, regardless of an individual's field of work. Iowa residents understand that even the best-run job sites can still be dangerous, which is why individual states offer workers' compensation packages to those injured on the job. These packages are meant to provide financial support to injured workers and their families during their recovery periods.
