Workplace injuries take toll on construction worker

A construction worker was hurt after he fell off a beam, according to local sources. Iowa workers understand that workplace injuries are commonplace in a high risk environment like a construction site. Thankfully, the worker should be the beneficiary of workers' compensation packages under his home state's law.

The incident apparently occurred around noon on the afternoon of May 28. Specific details of the accident are sparse as of this report, but it has been confirmed that the man apparently fell off a beam while working on a construction site. The fall was estimated to be roughly 10 feet.

The man suffered minor head injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment by medical personnel when they arrived on the scene of the accident. Though the report did not state explicitly, the entire incident will likely be investigated by the local branch of OSHA, which will conduct a survey of the entire job site to ensure safety measures are being met and exceeded where they can be. The focus will be to ensure accidents of this type do not happen in the future.

Workplace injuries are all but unavoidable in the context of a construction job, as Iowa workers can attest. However, it is vital for safety measures to be observed in these environments in order for the safety of workers to be made paramount in importance. In the event of an injury, however, workers' compensation packages will be made available to ensure continued income flow and payment of medical expenses in the face of long recovery periods.
